Wrote a string concerto a couple of months ago and have an idea for a barcarolle; I'll probably turn that into another if I can motivate myself to write it down. Found Trouble, miss Morphine.

I finished my Summer class this weekend.  It was in public speaking.  I had never realised how much effort goes into a speech: it's really no different than a research paper.  I just had the interesting experience of doing five of them in the span of two and a half weeks.  I'm certainly glad it's over with, but I'm going to have to make sure I have plenty with which to occupy my energy through the rest of the summer. I'm working on a couple of little poems and have a short story I'm in the revision stage on.  I doubt that'll be enough, however. I'll be focusing the bulk of my efforts on music, I think.  I've just received a bunch of new pie

I'm a bassist.  Before that I was a cellist, but I put it down when I switched to the bass.  That was almost fifteen years ago. The thing is, I always felt guilty leaving my cello in my closet and not doing anything with her.  I decided  that in the fall I would begin another music programme at the college, this one in Cello performance.  After all those years of neglect my instrument was unplayable.  So a couple of weeks ago I took her to the luthier to have her restored.  Today, the work was finished and I brought her home. I am now in the companionship of a fully restored twenty-year-old Suzuki violoncello with a full set of Pegheds gear
